Progressive Automations Statement & Policy on Conflict Minerals
Background
The United States Congress has enacted legislation regarding the utilization of "Conflict Minerals". The "Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act" mandates that companies listed in the U.S. report whether their products contain Tin, Tungsten, Tantalum, or Gold (known collectively as 3TGs), and determine if these materials are sourced from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or adjacent nations.
Policy
Progressive Automations' Conflict Minerals Policy delineates our commitment to opposing human rights abuses associated with the extraction and trade of conflict minerals. Given the well-documented connections between the exploitation of these minerals and human rights abuses in the DRC, we are dedicated to enhancing transparency and ensuring responsible sourcing throughout our supply chain. This policy aims to reduce funding for the conflict in the DRC, contributing to the resolution of the humanitarian crisis.
Our objective is to ensure that all components and materials utilized in the production of our products are sourced from conflict-free regions within the DRC. We strictly prohibit any involvement, whether direct or indirect, in activities that perpetuate illegal conflicts or human rights infringements.
Activities
We have integrated the principles of this policy into our Purchasing Terms and actively collaborate with our suppliers to bolster transparency within our supply chain. We commit to communicating our policy to our suppliers and endorsing pertinent industry efforts to ensure the minerals used in our products do not finance conflicts in the DRC.
Supplier Requirements
We stipulate that suppliers providing components or materials containing any of the 3TGs engage in proactive measures towards sourcing from conflict-free areas. Suppliers are expected to conduct their own Reasonable Country of Origin Inquiry (RCOI) and due diligence procedures to support verifiable and trustworthy conflict-free sourcing. We expect that our suppliers impose similar requirements throughout the supply chain to maintain the traceability of conflict minerals back to their original smelters.
To streamline the reporting process and maintain traceability, Progressive Automations mandates that all suppliers submit a Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) annually.
